stack info?

what is the rough estimate of an installation of stacks on a 1993 F-350 7.3L Turbo Diesel crew cab? what is the good and the bad in installing stacks. what i am trying to do with this rig is give it a mean mean exhaust sound. Any info or advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks

To make it really mean you'll need to stop by a truck store and price some 4" stacks. They aren't cheap. My Dad put a single 4"er on his F350 and it sounds great.

fumes

only thing with stacks is the fumes can easily come back to you. stoped at a stop light slight breeze on a hot sunny day with your windows down and you'll know what I am talking about . But on the other hand they definatly look cool .

You have a turbo, so you only have a single pipe out. But first is it the stock turbo?, if so you are better off changing the out - let housing and 3" down pipe, then go into stacks if you want. Donot tow a high trailer or 5er or you will be cleaning daily.

I have never had exhaust fumes from the stacks come in the cab, ever.
I have a turbo motor, but two stacks, no problems there.
Leave the muffler of with 3" stacks and it will sound plenty mean, also it will not cost an arm and a leg.

I did mine several years ago for 300 dollars.

your stacks are above the cab (smart), the one I was in had a cab fairing with a hole in each side and the stacks just poking out, perfect hight for the windows.

if your good at making thing it can be done for less then a 100 bucks and look every bit as good as the kits if not look even better and use 5" stacks u mite think its to big but its just right 6" is way to big seen a set on a truck looked stupid but the 5" on my truck look sweet. and i used the turn out style not the miter cut or flat cut.

1990 F250 DIESEL 4X4 EXT CAB LONG BOX WITH TWIN 5" STACKS what a sweet sound.

So you are going to say you bought two 5" turn out chrome stacks, elbows, the pipe and clamps to do your exhaust for under 100 dollars?

Man I paid way to mush for my 3" stacks, they cost me 65 dollars apiece wholesale.
Also took 20 feet of three inch pipe, a MIG welder and tailpipe bender for about 4 hours to do the job.

I put a 4" set of stacks on my friends dodge. I think we had a little over 700 in that one since you have to buy all the fittings. No bender for 4" pipe anywhere close to here.

I helped a buddy put 5 inch stacks on his dodge and we did it for 45 bucks. 15 for each stack and 15 for 1 90 degree elbow. I made the rest of the piping with his stock exhaust and the 4 inch that he had on it before that came out in front of the wheel. Took some engineering but i got it done. They look good.

stack info?

that a good deal.

I went by the local truck parts store today and my mouth was watering at the 6 inchers, and was thinking man that would take some major welding to get a 2 1/2 inch pipe to fit those train tunnels.

I started adding up how much they would cost with all other pieces to make it look and sound right. but all I could do when I walked out the store was think about what I was going to tell my wife what I needed to spend that kind of money on. hey

I spent 20 bucks on a set of 5" chrome stacks w/ turnouts. One was free. You just got to know the right people at the local trucking garage.
I just cant bring myself to spend the money to have a new 3" exhaust run into them.
The stacks will be coming soon though, Ive used up to much bailing wire keeping the old pipes up.
