02 Explorer/Mountaineer stereo. Interchangable?

02 Explorer/Mountaineer stereo. Interchangable?

My 02 Explorer has the single CD player/cassette player in the dash. My parents 02 Mountaineer has the 6 CD changer in the console. My dad is willing to swap stereos if wiring harnesses are compatible both ways (if his Mountaineer harness fits the single CD player from my Explorer, and my Explorer harness fits his CD changer and head unit). Is this swap possible?

I don't know for sure but since it's really really easy to remove the radios on the '02 I would suggest removing them and compare the backs.

Thanks Mike. I already swapped the radios. The Mountaineer radio had 1 more plug in the back than my Explorer radio had (the Explorer radio actually had a connector for the extra plug, onlywithout any pins in the connector). Not sure what the plug was for as everything works on both radios after swap; possibly the RDS and Traffic features on the 6 CD changer unit, which I have never used anyway. The Mountaineer had steering wheel mounted radio controls, but that all works after swap too. Anyway, I appreciate the info.
