radiator fan removal
I recently had my timing chain replaced and while the mechanic was in there, we changed the water pump to a Flow Kooler from Summit Racing. I also put in a high flow 180 degree thermostat. Well, after reading some of the recent posts about cool running Fords, I decided to pull off my clutch fan. Heh, heh. I live in Vail, Colorado and we are headed for cooler weather for the next six months. Well, to my amazement, my truck's running temperature(holding steady between the "n" and the "o") hasn't changed. The guage does start to rise if it idles too long, but I didn't wait to see how high it would go - I turned it off at the "r" and the "m". The performance improvement is substantial, too. At the steepest part of Vail Pass, my truck dropped to 55 miles an hour in third (with 33's and 4.10), now, it runs the same stretch at over 70 mph! Thought you guys might be interested.

My brother did the same thing on a 67 Mustang and he added an electric fan kit with a relay. This way in summer or warmer days you dont need to worry about overheating, at the same time the added performance of not having to turn a big fan that is not needed.
