I have noticed a few shutters in the truck over the past few weeks. I pulled a 10k trailer to Illinois and back to Texas (about 2000 miles) and now the problem seems to be worse. It first appeared when I would set the cruise. If it was a small incline, the truck would shutter for about 2 seconds, then stop. It will do this every time you set the cruise when going up any incline. After the trip, now the tranny occassionally downshifts extremely hard when going from 2nd to 1st (auto tranny). this is a new problem since the trip. It has also started shiftiing into reverse rather hard from time to time. Now the shutter will appear if I just accel up an incline, or when the truck seems to be undder any abnormal load. Not sure if I explained this well enough, so if anyone has any input, and need more info, please feel free to ask. Thanks for the help in advance.
check your trans dip stick for dark brown oil and a burnt smell. means burnt clutches
to me it sounds like to the dealer time your trans is going.
also there was a recall on the torqe shift trans. is yours in it? you can do a site search here for the torqe shift recall and get all the info on it.
good luck
Sounds like a line pressure problem.. My 05 5R110 started to fail (2K) and filled the remote filter with metal.. Without 'any' hard driving/towing.. One of the parts in the build was a new EPC, (Electronic Pressure Control Solenoid) that Ford has had problems with on the 5R units, and although it never shift/shuddered hard, it was suspect as the cause of the 'early' metal showing up... Or that was the theory.. Forward clutch started to fail as well from what looked to be a lack of pressure, although again, I have only the service print out as verification as to what was replaced.. Shudder/slipping at speed would indicate not enough pressure for complete lock up, as could the hard shift patterns.. Or, at least one of the possibilities... Take it in ASAP..
