I have noticed my '91 302 hesitates and runs kind of crappy untill it warms up so I checked for codes and am getting a 31 and 32, What is a logical fix for this? Is there a way to search thru the archives of previous posts to read about this or other problems without starting a new thread ?
I guess I am answering my own question, I decided to try cleaning my EGR valve instead of replacing it. It was a piece of cake , once off I soaked the pintle with Kroil worked it up and down a few times and washed it out with Auto Zone carb cleaner and reinstalled. Before I started I deleted the codes and they didn't come back and the best of all is that it has all the pee and vinegar that it had in the past. Problem solved. I also put some copper anti sieze on the big nut so now I can add this to my regular maintenance schedule.
The hardest par was the big nut (1 1/16) I soaked it first with Kroil The had to tap the wrench with a hammer. Y You have two bolts , a vacuum line and the electrical connector. If you are careful you wont have to replace the gasket. Very easy and took no time at all, besides the big wrench you need a 1/2socket carb cleaner, and penetrant. I put the anti sieze on the big nut asI plan on doing this often. Don't get any solvent or lubes on the upper part of valve as there are rubber seals in there. Also snug the 3 screws on the sensor on top , mine were a little loose and this could cause a vacuum leak.
