rear end

My 83 f150 4x4 4 speed has metalic cluncking
sound coming from the rear end when rolling a few
feet from a stop in reverse or a forward gear.Changed
both front and rear u joints,no help mo noise
when driving.Any suggestions ?

My 85 does the same. Have someone watch the yoke at the differential as you change from forward and reverse. That's when i got my clunk - it was the outer pinion bearing on the yoke.
