i also have been having this same problem. i took my truck to a local ford dealer and they said they found nothing. i had to go there and drive him up the road and show him the skip in the engine at a certain rpm. this problem seem to get worse and not any better. so i was talking to this guy and he told me to disconnect the egr valve. BAM! the missing stopped but now the engine light is on. running great but now what. i replaced the egr valve and still the same problem 54$ donw the drain. i disconnected the battery to get rid of the check engine light and now it acts like it doest want to idle properly. this book i have tells me to ohms out the electronic vacuum regulator. (EVR, round regulator with 2 vacuum hose and 1 electrical connection) unplug the connection and test for battery voltage to the regulator (switch on, engine off) and it should be between 30 to 70 ohms .
Testing the differental pressure feedback (dpfe) check for voltage with the key on (engine not running) voltage should be between 4.0 and 6.0 volts.if not, replace unit.
this will be done tomorrow and i hope this works. hope some of these tests will help others aswell.
why cant these unit be all in one and not 3 or 4 things working together to cause guess work. chevy isnt like this and why cant ford do the same. its sad when the dealer tells me I DONT KNOW.
if anyone can help me with this also, many thanks.
