Try a place called toms transmissions in New Jersey, i talked to him and he said he rebuilds E4ODs with all the heavy duty upgrades for 1500 bucks, no core, sent to a business address or freight pick up location. Thas is about the cheapest i have found though

Ken
Do you have a address on the guy in NJ? I live in NJ, I also already have a very good trans only shop that I have been using for years.....but its always good to have back up.
I am having mine rebuilt now. With new converter and MLPS and removal and installation it is costing me 1200. This does come with a 1 year 12000 mile warranty. I think this is a good deal. This guy is in Connersville Indiana and has been at it for thirty years with a top notch reputation.
WOW, i have never heard of that tranny costing that little ever. even if someone does the install themselves it tends to run 1800 at least just for the tranny.
On any E4OD rebuild, I'd recommend they install a Transgo Tugger shift kit and an additional external tranny filter. This is especially true if the tranny really craoked as there will be crud all in the cooler lines and it is very difficult to get it all flushed out, or even if whoever is doing the swap, even does a line flush. You can get a really nice external spin-on tranny filter setup with hoses and brackets from Summit racing for $35. It's the best $35 you'll ever spend.
