I am going to paint my 64 in a desert camo pattern using a paint made by a company that claims you can use an airless sprayer.Has anyone used an airless spray gun and how did turn out?
I've painted houses with them and they work really good for that but don't know about painting cars or trucks. I think I'd be alittle leary about it.

Have you ever seen a military vehicle close up?
The camo paint jobs are not what I call "nice automotive finishes" and this is deliberate, so yes, an airless spray gun will do just fine for that kind of pattern, and finish.
Howdy! Could you tell me who the manufacturer of the camo paint that you are talking about is? I'm interested because I am also going to camo paint my truck an I have a wagner paint gun. Thanks in advance. Rich.
The brand name is aervoe the only problem is you have to find a dealer in your area because, shipping charges are very high.Krylon also sells their camo paint in gallons but,you won't find it in Wally world.Maybe your local paint store would order it for you. There is another brand called Gillispie. If you can get ahold of a military vechicle magazine they have ads from alot of dealers.
I painted my 79 ford truck with an airless paintgun. I used rust stop oil base that i bought at the local Ace hardware. it worked really well, but you really have to thin it down. I also put a cap full of automotive hardner per cup. It looks alot like automotive paint, but up close you can tell. Looks really good at 60. lol
