Hello everybody!
I'm trying to find out information on the engines of the 1970 or 1971 trucks.
I've only been told that those years are either a 351 or 390 cubic inch.
I've got one with a 360
So is this not original?
I'm sure it's a 1991, F-100, Sport Custom
Can anyone offer some opinions??
I really thank you for your reply.
Ford.com used truck search is where I had to make a decision on weather the truck had a 351 or a 390 engine. Also had to pick a flare side or styleside and I don't know what it is. So I abanded that search and thought I'd see if maybe this truck does not have the original motor.
My 72 has a 360. The 360 and 390 have the same cylinder bore. The only difference is in the stroke. I've read in this forum where guys changed their 360 to a 390 with a new camshaft.

Sandy, I believe the V8 options were 302 or 360/390 for those years, with 360 being standard FE. The 351M was introduced to the F series in late 77, the 351W not til the 80s.
Today I bought a 71 F100 shortbed with a 302 and 3 speed. I was told it's original. At some point I'd like to put a 351W and auto while leaving it as stock looking as possible.
The 360 was by far the most common engine in the 250's you could get a 302 in the F100. 390 was not common at all, alot of people think they have a 390 because that was a popular ford motor and like qman said minor differences in stroke virtually impossible to tell 352,360,390,428 just by lookin at it, air cleaners get swapped motors get swapped cabs and everything else, any how 99% its a 360.....good luck!
That just shows you the intelligence level of the mopar guys
yea tell me about it i can't say a whole lot though considering i currently drive a 97 dakota. 155,000 miles on it and still starts everymorning. but don't worry just got the word today a ford is on the way.
