i love lucas products. lucas trans helps the shifting and overall performance of trans and maybe shudder. shudder fixx is made for that. why not put in both?

Don't Know, A guy at work told me that Lucas works fine in chevy transmissions
but not fords of course he had nothing to back his statement up with but his big mouth. I would like to find information that lucas works fine on fords.
This weekend I am going to change fluid and filter on my 98 F250 E4OD trans.
Yes I have the dreaded Shudder. Ordered Dr. Tranny's shudder fix at Napa. and filter. I am not a fan of the so called "Machanic in a can fix it jobs".
I also know some additives work.

you need to drain your convertor also or you are wasting your time.

another poster with shudder used shudder fixx after i told him about it, he could not believe draining completely, he did not drain convertor the first time, and using shudder fixx would work, but it did.

and lucas is good in any transmission.

Yea I have read alot of post here about draining the convertor, But none about draining the cooler. Don't know if the cooler drains automatic when truck is turned off so I think I will blow air through the line to make sure.
Well time to start a fire in the garage and get it warmed up. Snow day.

gravity takes care of the cooler.

it is very hard to get every little bit of fluid out of the trans.

Thats good to know Thanks. I was just going to disconnect the line and now I am glad I don't have to. By the way I bought Shudder fixx and Lucas.
Just waiting for the T.C. to drain.

you did change the filter also, right?

when you are ready to fill do this, put in 3 or 4 quarts trans, fluid with truck not running.

boil some waterin microwave, be careful, or on stove and set lucas in to thin.

after it is thin start truck and use funnel to put in trans.

than 3 more quarts of trans fluid.

shift thru gears once in a while.

put in shudder fixx.

than put in more trans fluid.

do not overfill.

when close to full, take for short ride to help warm up trans.

a little at a time put in until full.

i usually let truck sit for 30 minutes go for short drive again than add a little at a time untill full

do not overfill.

i usually check it the next day a couple of times.

you will now be happy with shifting i hope.

I usually put about 10-15 lbs of air pressure on and blow them out.

Yes I changed The Filter and also used a torque wrench on the bolts for the pan to 100 inch pounds.
When I added the lucas. All I did was mix it with two quarts of trans. fluid in a gallon jug and shook well. And to my suprise there was no foaming. So in it went.
The Dr. Trannys mix was very thin so I just dumbed it down the tube.
Ran engine and added rest of trans fluid. Shifting gears as I went.
I felt comfortable about getting out all the old trans fluid. After I added 15 quarts in sence trans fluid capacity is 15.4 quarts.
Right when I started the truck up. The little woman poked her head in the garage and said she wanted to use the truck "Go Figure" To take her friend home. so I let her and when she got home. She said it shifted fine.
So I check the fluid and noticed the gas gauge was the only thing that said empty.
Looks Like I will have to take it for a ride tomorrow because the gas station closes early in this one horse town.

good job.

thanks for the update.

after i changed fluid, filter and lucas i never had shudder again. i did not need the shudder fix in mine, but others have said it fixed the trans. that they thought would need a rebuild.
