Back in '70 there were no study guides available, everybody took the test "cold". When I took the test I had been up working/school 24 hrs a day for over a week. I would come home daily to shower before class. I had just come home to crash for a few hours before class and had about an hours worth of sleep when my mother woke me up and sent me off for the test. My poor brain was on fire... Back in those days I would do the 24 hour routine for 2 weeks at a time then crash for a day and do it again. -Caffeine was wonderful.

I think the maximum score on an SAT is 1600, lol. I only got 1200 on my SAT score.

When I took the ACT a few years ago... I scored a 22, which is quite a bit higher than the national average. Yesterday I took a placement exam for college, and my equivalent score was a 28...

I have read that more and more schools are not looking at ACT and SAT scores as much anymore. All the test really do is determine the chances of someone doing well, but more and more kids these days are smart as can be but have no desire to be in college.

Instead some schools are looking more at your reason for wanting to go to college, why do you want to be here, what do you intend to do with your life? and that sort of stuff.
Like I said it is "some" that are doing this, not many though.

it's the scholorships really... that's my only concern about my ACT score. And since I'm going to rockhurst, they like to see scores about 25ish and up. They won't accept people w/out certain circumstances that score 18ish(average).

I got a 25 on my ACT, would have done alot better if it wasn't for the science/reasoning portion. That is always my strong area, when I got it back it said i was like 18 or something in that area which confused me, I got my first year of schooling all paid for in scholorships so it was all good!

Well, I got my scores back. They consisted of a 28 english, 27 math, 27 reading, and 27 science/reasoning. That makes a composite score of 27.25, which rounds down to 27. Too bad, eh? I lost that opportunity of $16,000 over the course of 4 years. The test just isn't up my alley.

A 27 is nothing to be ashamed of.

Well done.

well, I'm not ashamed, just frustrated. I got those test scores all the way up to 29, and I've trickled back down to 27. That's why I'm disappointed. I don't like regressing... which is why I'm going to make a funny old man in denial later in life... Anyway, I guess I'll just shrug it off and pay in student loans for a couple extra years. Won't be a big deal. I plan on being filthy rich. Anyone want any pre-money?

I've heard that several times.
ACT scores really don't mean that much, there a test to determine chances of if you will do well or not. I have seen people who scored the upper 20's or even in the 30's who flunked out after one year of college. I have seen people that barely scored 20 (if that) who had straight A's all through college.
College is simply based on your drive to do it. If you want to succeed and have a strong will to do so you'll do it, if you want to shrug it of and party you won't fair well. That's my bit of 2 cents tonight.

Where exactly is Pleasant Hill, MO?

I got a 19, with an 11 math score. I didn't feel to bad seeing how bad the math drug me down. Could have probably got it up if I would have had a calculator that worked during the test. My ex-gf got a 33 and went from a small town KS girl, to Seaton Hall I think, in Jersey on a full ride. Sad thing was, I got a pretty decent scholarship to a juco for having the highest male ACT(class of 16 kids)
