I have a 84 f150 and the other night i was out around 11 and some little ricer jerk tailed me for 2 miles before zipping around me and nearly pushing me off the road. I went to hgonk my horn but the week before my horn went out on me so I when no sound came out I got even more pissed off. I ended up hitting my steering wheel a little too hard and broke the plastic middle part of it.
Have any of you ever come across somthing to replace that part?
PS. it was a woman driver so all you insurence people out there that make me pay 100 bucks more on anverage a month than any girl my age when I have never been pulled over or had any accidents are full of sh#@t.
PPS. no offence women. some women are good drivers just as some men are. and there are some men and women that should be taken out and shot for the way they drive.
at NPD they have the whole middle pad, if thats what you need. Check out part number F-13a805-9 its the /----\ shaped pad with the ford emblem in the middle.
I hear ya on the insurance, I wish the insurance co. would recognize that its nearly impossible to speed in my truck, any bit over 55mph, you can practicly see the gas guage go down, Thats one of my reasons not to speed hah.
I just replaced my steering wheel. If you want the pad and the wheel, let me know. Just pay the shipping and its yours. I have a 81 f-100. the wheel should be the same.
Ford made three types of "Horn Pad" for 1980
to 1986 trucks.
1) is black Rubber.
2) is Woodgrain, without speed control.
3) Is woodgrain with speed Control.
Black rubber is the most common. You can still find these in the junk yards.
If you don't care what it looks like and just want your horn to work, you can look into a lot of 1970 to late 80s ford, Lincoln, and mercury vehicles, to get a workable pad and switch. It may have a Ford oval, might have a crown or other such, marking but it will work. you can also remove the rubber part, to put around the horn switch too.
Most junk yards will just charge you $5 for a small part like that. Around here they don't inventory little items since they don't bring many $'s (costs too much or too labor intensive to track every small item - they'd rather just collect a few $s).
Just give me your address and I'll send it to you. And then you just send the money back to me after you get it. That way you know the exact amount of shipping.
i would have liked to hit the little ricer but like you said yourself these trucks dont go very fasy so i would have had to catch the little bast@#d first.
