my new project

just wanted to introduce myself seeing as i've never been here before(I'm one of those bad chevy guys) i'm not to sure lately though(i might just be addicted to buying anything that kinda runs/might run someday because i also bought a ranger 2 months ago for 50 bucks) but i love off-roading and just picked up a sweet 79 F-250 project 300 straight six 3 spd with granny low and 4x4. and it was free. the only thing that sucks is i am stationed at ft. bragg and the truck is in ky. i'm not real sure when i'll get time to work on it. i have some pictures but i'm not sure how to post them. i'll try to get them up and i also have about 3/4t of questions to follow.

yall take it easy
later, joe

ok i got the pictures up, i only had one come out good but i'll post more of my progress later. The only thing it needs is a clutch and the fact it has sat for 15 yrs. Not much rust at all(tailgate and drivers side quarter) and my dad seems to think only 60,000 org miles(not sure though). My plans are a new quickie paint job, lots of cleaning, 4in lift, and the 36's that are on the back all the way around (the wheels wouldn't clear up front). I only need to get them mounted on some wider wheels. I am planning on this being one of my easier ones to fix and drive. So hopefully i will knock it out after my next deployment, should only take me a few weeks next time i'm on leave. I would appreciate any input or recomendations on the lift(brand other parts i might need) it has the HD DANA 44 up front and th DANA 60 in the back
thanks in advance
later, joe

There are many brands of lifts, but you can try rough country, superlift, and skyjacker. Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has some very good complete lifts, but I don't think it has any for a F-250.

You might want to look into lockers and gears,
good luck,
Matt

Wow, you have what my dad would call his dream truck... He has always wanted a 3/4 ton 4X4 with 300 I-6, but has never seen one but once in his life! These seem really rare. He met a guy with one that goes into the mountains all the time for some kind of flora reseach, and this was the only truck that could take what he would give it. The lighter weight front he said really helped (due to the 300).
