Whenever I do some work on anything and a new problem occurs during or immediatly after, always ask myself if something I did is causing it.

In this case since you were working near the dist, coil ,etc. Could you have broken a wire or connection? or possibly replaced a connection to the wrong point?

Bad battery terminal connections? But it wouldn't crank if that was it... There should be power on the solenoid 'S' terminal when the key is turned on. That is the 'key on' power supply for the coil. Check that for power. Might be a bad wire there, or bad solenoid. I've had that happen only once, EVER. Replacing the solenoid fixed it. You can jumber that terminal to 12V for temporary test to see if the engine will start. It just bypasses the key on signal.

What? So that's it, no more trying to find the problem? If it won't start, replace the engine? Haha
Great troubleshooting! lol
