Can anyone tell me how to do the wire trick on an 87 F250 6.9 diesel? Where the plug is and which wire to ground, all that good stuff. Thanks!

I don't believe that engine is computer controlled, which would mean you couldn't get any codes.

Thanks for the info EPNCSU2006,

Does that mean that the dash lights like the engine light, and rear anti-lock light are just hooked to sensors that mean very specific things when they come on?

If your diesel 87 is anything like my gas 87, the red engine light is wired to come on when the oil pressure reads below a certain value. Later models also turned that light on with over temperature on the coolant gauge as well. The ABS has a separate computer somewhere under the dash. You can get codes from that if the RABS light is on by momentarily grounding the black/orange wire under the driver side dash near the parking brake pedal.

Yeah, you are right about the low oil preasure-red engine light. Thanks for the clarification.
