Anybody re-do their's so they can run the fog lights without the headlights being on? Dunno if it can be done being the **** has too be in the on position and pulled out to turn on the fogs. Just wondering. Thanks guyz!
I was wondering the same thing. I have an 02 F-350 that will not allow the fogs to come on w/out the headlights. I have a friend who has an 02 F-250 that he bought new and it will let him run his w/out the headlights from the factory.

No, I haven't done this. I just run them with the parking lights on when I want no headlights. That being said, it would be easy to do. Just come off the hot wire going to the light switch, cut the fog light wire loose and install a flip switch in the dash. Flip the switch and fog lights only.
Joe
i would like to do this.. which wire is the fog lite wire that needs to go to the switch.. and could you run it so that you could use a toggle or the stock switch...?
I wonder what the difference is? Wonder if we can just swap the 02 headlight **** assembly into my 01?
Hey JOE-M, what year truck you got?
You can modify your switch to run the fogs without the headlights, and it will also keep the fogs on with the high beams.
The electric side is easy, just jumper the park light power (brown) wire to the switched side of the fogs (white/black trace)
The you need to disassemble the switch by gronding off the little plastic rivits that hold it together and cut the plastic ramp that the switch rides on enough that the switch will pull out in the fog position. Reassemble the switch (you have to glue it back together) and you're done.
The connectors are different between the 01 and 02's they will not interchange.
Good question. There is all kinds of stuff with the 02's lights. There are two swithes-early and late production, auto lamps, DRL's, etc. etc.
If the switch pulls out in the park lamp position the same as it does in the headlight position, then it should be as simple as running a jumper wire from brown to red/yellow trace in the main light switch harness.
that's what i was afraid of... mine does not... i think i will just hook up a toggle switch as an optional power supply to the fogs ... that way if i'm towing at night and i want to use them with the high beams then i can just leave them of on the dash but turn them on with the toggle... which wire coming from the switch sends the power to the fog lights..? this will be the one i hook the toggle to...
I have an 8/02 SD and my switch has the option to pull out the **** in any position but the fog lights only come on with the low beams. I DON"T want them on with the high beams but want them on with the parking lights. What do I need to do to achieve this?

You'll have to move some wires, and add another switch somewhere......but yes, it can be done.

all you will have to do is use a test light. pull the switch out turn you fogs on and see what wire has power. Its that simple. there should be one hot wire and one that becomes hot when you turn on the fogs (remote wire) hook those two wires to the toggle switch and you should be able to turn them on whenever you want.
