so i went to a movie tonight (lords of dog town) i come out and get in my car and its really humid, something aint right, ohh look theres glass on the floor, some motherf----er busted in my pasenger side vent window on my bronco. now what i would do to them if i had scene it is another story, but i gotta fix it, so if someone could enlighten me id love it
Thanks
Ben
p.s. the truck was full of tools and cds and they didnt get **** cuase the alarm went off, damn im glad i locked it this time
Pretty easy. Roll your window down and remove the door panel. You'll see an 11mm bolt holding the bottom of the vent window frame, remove it. Peel the weatherstrip/window channel out of the vent frame (careful-it tends to be brittle). Look at the front of the door frame and there are two philips screws also holding the vent frame. Pull them and the assembly will be loose. Push it down some and then back up. You'll have to give it a quarter turn because of a bracket on the lower part. Some wiggling is necessary. Assembly is reverse. No need to remove the main glass.
Most junkyards sell the assembly rather than trying to extract the glass. It can be done too, but it's a big pain.
Make sure you get one from an 92-6 F-series or Bronco. Although the glass itself is the same from 1980, the frame changed. Some 97 and up F250's and bigger trucks retained the old body style and their assemblies will work too.
well it got it done before i got to read your post so i did it the "other way" and just drilled out the rivet and figured out the bottom part by tearing into it. so when i put it back in i just used a tiny bolt on the top with some locktight
