Question Hey all

I've got a chance at an 80 Bronco with a 300. Owner says he was "messing with timing" and it quit running. He pulled the distributor and it has broken the drive gear off. He says the roll pin is intact. Sounds a little odd to me but we're dealing with vehicles here. If the drive gear has sheared off and is still in the engine is it 1. in the way, 2. gonna hang up where it's at, 3. just dropped to the oil pan and not a major worry? If it has hung up is it accessible without a tear down? Cause it's a pretty straight old bronc and a dizzy isn't too expensive so if no big deal I'd like to get it a drive it. I just don't know straight six internals that well.

I'm not sure if that would be a problem or not. I would want it out of there though. What else did the PO mess around with? I would look the whole rig over and be sure it's not some POS. The 300 is a great engine. Very reliable, a little sluggish, but good amount of torque.
