Is chevy actually selling all vehicles at a price comperable to ford's A-Plan??
whats the catch?
seems likethe dealers would be pretty mad at losing extra $$
I guess they are determined to steal fords title as the best selling truck.
Now what will ford do to counter?
The catch is twofold: GM reduced a lot of their rebates from May, so you need to look at the bottom-line cost INCLUDING rebates, and not just the "employee price." For example, you can buy an Explorer right now for invoice and get up to $7500 in rebates, which would mean a much lower cost than a comparably-equipped Trailblazer at GM employee price and their $2500 rebate. Some Chevies may cost less than comparable Fords, so you'll have to check. Secondly, if you're not used to pre-set, discount pricing, then the salesperson is going to have to scrape you off the ceiling (or pick you up off the floor) after you see the value for your trade-in.
Ford has already upped some rebates, but they have no intention (at this time) to match GM's "employee-pricing for everybody" program.
Now that's a darned good question. You know GM's offering a good buy because dealers and employees alike are po'd about the deal. The flip side is that it's generated a lot of buying interest- I can personally vouch from both sides of the Chevy-Ford fence. Ford's official line is profit, not market share- but if GM's ploy is really successful, what choice do they have?
As a totally unrelated topic- I'm amazed at the number of Daimler-Chrysler employees I've talked to in the last few days. Wassup with that?
Whatever I buy, I'm spolied. I know what I can get going in with a FORD thanks to Jeff/PB and this site.
That uncertainty with other makes is scary and hardly worth the hassle. I do not want to be the prey to the predator.
