Down here in Houston, TX area looking for a sweet Ex. Want a Limited with the 7.3 PSD and am curious if someone can give me an idea what the major differences are between the 02 and 03 year models? I am looking for one in the 65000 miles or below category and it seems that most that I have seen on either ebay, kbb or other sites seem to be running in the $28 - $31 k range. Is that about right or are they being marked up quite a bit? Whats a reasonable price and any great suggestions where or how to go about finding one down here in S. Texas would be appreciated. Last question is once I get one, about how much is it going to cost me in suspension upgrades to make it stable on the road?
the only difference that i know of although not to sure the 02 has a Dana 50 up front and the 03 has a Dana 60 with a higher axle gross vehicle weight rating
Check out Texas Truck Center off FM1960 & Jones Rd. When I was looking at used Excursion Diesels they were one of the few places that usually had more than one to choose from. If they don't have what you are looking for they can probably locate it.
On the suspension side it depends on what you want. I had a 2" lift, Rancho shocks & steering stabilizer installed along with 305/70/16 tires & the truck rides 10 times better than it did stock, much smoother & no hitting the bump stops going over RR tracks. Cutten Customs did the suspension & Discount Tire for the tires.

This is my first post, and I don't want to correct a senior member, but are you sure about this?
I am pretty sure a Dana 60 is a solid front axle, wheras the Dana 50 is IFS..
Edu-ma-cate me on this please.
Thanks, Ricky...

I didnt know there was a IFS Dana 50, however i am sure the first couple of years all 4x4 super duties had dana 50 solid axles up front including the excursion im sure the 2001 had it but im not 100% sure about the 2002, the 2003 and up has the Dana 60 for sure. I dont know to much about the 2wd differences.
