Hello, if any has any suggestions i would appreciate it....Yesterday I bought a 2000 lb engine stand. I also bought this adapter that bolts into the exhaust bolts and runs back with a bracket that bolts to the standard engine stand. I put it all on the stand and with the hoist still holding some of the weight of my 59L flatty, the stand looked like it was going to snap in half. The circular part of the stand was really badly deflected down at an angle, so I took it right off. Does anyone know of the "standard" way to put these engines on stands, or which stand specifically is used that can handle them? Thanks..
Sounds like the kind of setup I have for my 59AB. Holding the engines from the exhaust port is seen in some of the repair manuals issued by Ford, so I assume it's okay. I bought my adaptor from a fellow on eBay, works great, very well built.
That's supposed to be the best way to suspend a 59 series.
You could always cut a 2x4 to prop under it. Could be the stand you got has an inadequate plate. I've got a cheap one here that I hate to put more than a 302 on. When I rig up a bigger engine I grab the BIG stand.
Thanks for the replies, it seems that the stand is just a junk one, its brand new, 2000lb capacity, but maybe just cheap. I guess I just have to get a better one. Can anyone suggest any brands?
I have my 226 6 cylinder on a stand hooked up on the back of the engine where the bellhousing adaptor would go. I bought this stand used so I don't know the brand but it's holding up that 6 with no problem. If I were you I would exchange that stand they could have given you a light duty by mistake. Or, at least read the warranty and liability information on it in case it does fail.

I heard, i bought those adapters from a guy on ebay. There are 2 of them and each one bolts to the exhaust ports and runs back to the stand. Do you know any decent stand companies?
