I get what sounds like a high pitched whistle if I go high RPM's just before I shift no matter what gear I am in or going to. If I back out of the throttle it will go away. I haven't put a tach in yet so am not sure what the RPM range is that this happens. Any ideas? Maybe a vacuum leak?
have you looked at your exhaust manifolds? mine will do that occasionally because i have some cracks in them ... im kinda used to it now ... ive been meaning to fix it but who really has the time, neways thats my two sents ... if it is a crack you'll see white around the cracks where the exhaust is coming out
do you have a FIPK or aftermarket TB installed ? I have both and get a whistle around 1700 rpm. Not sure it its one or the other or a combination of the two
If you put it in park and rev the motor does it whistle or does it just happen underload ? I would also check all your air intake clamps be it MAF or SD and also try cleaning your throttlebody.
It does whistle in neutral too, in the morning at first start up. I haven't checked my connections yet but will and let you know what I find out. As far as cleaning the TB I have used Berryman B-12 spray in the past will that work?

You must use a TB cleaner. Im not familar with the brand you have but if it says for use on TB's your okay. Any other products can harm your TB by breaking down the internal seals. If it whistles in neutral I would throw up the hood and try to locate the source. Start from the air filter and move your way up to the TB. Good luck
I was wrong it is CRC and it is a TB cleaner, I was thinking of the fuel line cleaner. I'll give it a shot and try connectors in the in the intake system. Thanks for the ideas.
check the hard vacum lines especially. they get brittle and crack over time. they are usually wraped up in a wire loom so they arent easy to see. if they are cracked you can replace with basic rubber vac hose
Also, check and clean or replace your Idle Air Controller (IAC). Have been known to make noises that have been described as everything from a whistle to a freight train.
Ranger & Kemical, thanks for the added info. I have already replaced some of the hard lines and will check the others as well as the IAC. The whistle doesn't seem to be changing performance any just is an annoyance.
