OK, I just looked up and realized I'm at post number 3010! Good grief I would have thought you guys would have told me to shut up by now! Anyhow, I was sitting behind a TJ this afternoon and took note of one of my favorite decals and one of my LEAST favorite decals all at the same time. The first, which is a notice that is not nearly as necessary nor as likely to be needed on a fullsize Bronco, "If you can read this please, turn me over!" applied upside-down in the rear window of course (yeah TJ with a hardtop).
The second was the somewhat ridiculous notion about "IT" (whatever "IT" is) being a "Jeep thing" and I wouldn't understand. For what seems like years I have been trying to think of a way to reword this simple tidbit of utter nonsense into something that actually MADE sense. Being a former Cherokee owner (yes, guilty as charged... at last the ugly truth comes out) It suddenly dawned on me today. "I UNDERSTAND the Jeep thing, hence the Bronco (Ford)". If you don't like "hence" or need to look it up in the dictionary try "I UNDERSTAND the Jeep thing, thats why I drive a Bronco (Ford)".
Of course, friends of mine usually refer to ANYHTING too complicated, backward, or utterly silly as a "Jeep thing" 'cause WE sure as heck don't understand it.
Just a little useless nonsense to add to the rest of my 3009 ramblings.
That's a whole lotta posts Greystreak! I for one would never tell ya to shut up. I always thought you were full of it...knowledge I mean! Thanks for sharing with your Bronco buddies! Does that mean we get to give you 3010 spankings?
As for the Jeep thing. I don't know what that is either. But I better learn soon, since my oldest daughter wants a J-thing, for her first vehicle when she gets her license in a couple of years. I Know....I'm still trying to talk her into a Bronco.
I think I understand the jeep thing... they are cute, they can look mean, they can climb a hill, but they are like ants. there are so damn many of them. When I drive around. I notice the jeeps they are everywhere. It is a special treat to run into a Bronco. That makes them more special.
Way to go Greystreak, My sentiment exactly.
I did a lot of offroading in a roommates CJ 5 with a lift and 33's.
I could never get over the feeling that we were gonna tip over every time we got back on pavement. Kinda like standing on the top of a stepladder.
NH Hottie...my daughter wants a jeep as well. Oh kids these days. Now as for your posts Greystreak...WOOO HOOOO. I have gotten alot from yours and many others as well. Keep it up! (Now I have another to add to mine too!)
Jeeps are not cute they are pain in the butt, like poffot said they are like ants and i hate when I have to scrape them off my tires cause there are so many of them and they are always in the way you cant help but run over them! I wonder if Discount Tire's Road Hazard ins, covers that?
Now now scurdiedog. Lets not be to mean. They are in the 4x4 family. wouldn't it be fun to chain a jeep to a Bronco and let them play tug-a-war. Imagine a 5.8 against a 4.0 and I don't know the weight differance. Do you all think the Bronco would win? I got front and rear lockers, I don't think they would have a chance!
Greystreak - there is a black TJ with a hard top that has the upside down sticker on the windshield just down the street fom me - so clean with no scratches! I've even seen a few Jeep Liberties with the "It's a Jeep thing" sticker too and I have to scratch my head.
I basically live out at the Oceano (Pismo) Dunes and see many Jeeps, usually in packs. No exaggeration, at least one of them ends up DNF with steam erupting from under the hood, or digging themselves to China right at the top of a dune. Which explains why they run in packs - to help each other out.
In the past year alone, I've NEVER seen a Bronco (early or Full Size) stuck or needing assistance getting around the dunes. If anything, people wave me down in my Bronco when stuck - like I have a flashing siren with a decal that says Bob's Towing on the side of the Bronco. This is not to bash Jeep at all because it has such a rich history in off-road and I've seen Jeeps done right that handle great off-road.
And it is true, whenever you see another Bronco "brother" or "sister" you get the thumbs up or high five... pretty cool. To poke fun at the Jeep thing sticker, my alternate would be:
"If you can read this upside down, walk away."
Or another sticker could read: "If I'm upside down, it's a Jeep thing."
OK, I just looked up and realized I'm at post number 3010! Good grief I would have thought you guys would have told me to shut up by now!
No need to ask you that, your posts speak for themselves j/k Joe (have had that one laying around for a long time, and never found a good use for it)

Very nice! I like that one. Time to find a sticker vendor to make some!
Whoa Rich, the one that got away. My daughter will be driving a Bronco, something I can work on and enjoy, feel comfortable with the results when a Liberty or another one of those cute little Jeep things runs into her, and because she wants to. We appreciate your insight and the 3,011 posts, I've personally benefitted. Daimler can continue their advertising strategy. Thanks and hats off to the Streak!
(Rich, what type fly were you using? Fishing this Sunday, I hope).
you know, i DO understand the jeep thing...if its a real jeep. I am the proud owner 1951 CJ3A, and its in the middle of a complete restoration. its a great old vehicle, not a highway buggy by any means (5.13:1 gears, no overdrive, and a old flathead Hurricane 4-banger) but itll out crawl and out manuver my Bronco, 6 ways to sunday!
i love my old jeep, and yes, it is a jeep thing, but we all have a Ford thing too, the C-brand and D-brand drivers have theirs, and even the import *****s, *i mean guys.
the new jeeps are ok vehicles, but the REAL Jeep thing is with the old buggies the CJs, Civilian Jeeps.
but then we have the YJs, they are Yuppie Jeeps (yuppies and cityfolk drive them), and the TJs are Tomboy Jeeps (they wish they had the ***** of a real 4X4), the liberty, now thats a joke, and the new Grand Cherokee, gimme a break!
but i do love my bronco, and it will prolly be pulling my little jeep around a on a trailer, but only cuz it goes highway speed, and the little jeep, well, its lucky if it can hit 45
jetblack, glad to hear about the jeep restoration. I was once the proud owner of a 1946 CJ2A with the flathead - yes, 45 mph would be lucky (or a very good tail wind).
Keep em coming Greystreak. Altough I'm new to the board and haven't posted much I've been doing alot of searches through the old posts trying to learn everything I can before asking for help. It didn't take me long to figure out that you knew your stuff. When I see a reply from you on a thread I pretty much expect to get the right answer. I'm curious where you learned your stuff, were/are you a pro?
PS - If you could just slow your posts down a little to allow me to catch up? I've still got a few thousand of your old ones to read.
