Watch FX's OIL STORM, it's a scary near truth possibility of a story.
I saw that movie yesterday. It was a little corny in parts but the message was one that needs to get out to the general public. A valid and scary "reality" that I feel we all must face. The world is changing faster than we humans have time to adapt to, and we had better be looking for contigiencies for our future. I just hope that an viable alternative to diesel comes around soon that will work without adverse affects to a 6.0 so I don't loose my investment in my Super Duty. It would suck if I had to retrofit my truck with a hydrogen engine or something.
kw5413,
congrats on the 6 month old granddaughter, my first granddaughter is due next month. I can't wait. Already got 2 grandsons, ready for something different.
I watched the Oil Storm show as well. I love doom and gloom movies but they tend to have an underlying motive which is "ride a bike, destroy the SUV and save the planet." If you ride a bike the ocean's currents won't change direction and there won't be a second ice age. I'd love to know who funded this movie. I wouldn't be surprised if it was by some of the major eco groups. I suppose that if we were shut off so sudden that life could resemble the movie. Scary thought.
KW, the last refinery was built in the US in 1976 if I recall correctly. There are plans to move forawrd on a refinery in Yuma, AZ in the near future, though. I'll believe that one when I see it.
I got an even simpler answer. We buy just as much if not more at $2.50/gal as we did when it was $1.00/gal. So why should they lower it? If you could sell your old truck for $20k would you sell it for $10k???? It's simple economics. That's my take on it.
