I have a '96 F150 with the 300-6. The only thing I'm missing is a tach. The truck seems to have every other option except a tech. I have the 5-speed and would find it useful. Does anyone knoe of a manufacturer that offers a tach that would go well in the interior and not stick out like a sore thumb? Thanks in advance.
Do you have a spot inside the dash that you can mount a tach? My '82 had a spot right in the middle that was blank that could be used for a tach. Check out VDO or Auto Meter. They have a great selection of gauges including tachs as small as 2 1/2" in diameter. They also have "Pod" mounted tachs that you could mount to your window pillar. Jegs and Summit Racing sell both types of gauges.
I think a pillar mount might be the ticket. I have a temp and a boost gauge mounted on the pillar of my 5.O Mustang and they work great. Thanks for the idea.
I have a '95 F150 with the 5 speed and it had no tach. There was a blank area on the right side of the instrument pannel right above the air duct, which is where the electronic 4WD controls would go. Looking from below the dash I could see there was nothing behind the dash there. Now I have a Sun mini-tach mounted there. looks pretty good, but I am going to try to angle it toward me a bit because it is a bit over to the right. Also most tachs go to 8,000 which is twice what you want to run with a 300 inch I-six. I think I saw a tach in the J.C. Whitney catalog that goes to 4,000 which would be perfect for that engine.
