tach

I installed a 7.3 in my old gaser i want to hook up a tach , I dont have a tach in the truck has anyone used a after market tach how hard too install?

Finding an aftermarket tach for a diesel is harder than the install.

No spark, so gasser tachs will not work.

What year is your truck?

If you can find a diesel insturment cluster for that year truck, it might be your best bet.

The truck is a 87 , I have a tach from a 85 it has four terminals it did work in the 85.

issapro makes a good diesel tach about 100 dollars and easy to install

yea the way it sounds when you say it makes you want to spell it like issapro instead of isspro

My tach is aftermarket and it runs off of the alternator. It was a little difficult to figure out what wires went to what part on the alternator, and you also have to turn some **** inside the actual gauge to get it to read the right rpm. It was made by stewart warner, and if you want I can get you some information on it.

I have one of these style by Autometer.Just be aware that any alternator belt slippage will cause errors in tach display.Isspro makes several programmable tachs that can use the factory tach sensor by inputing the number of pulses per rev. Since it reads directly from the IP gear it will be dead on all the time.They are somewhat more expensive, but if you have a factory sensor it is a good option.The glue on magnet setup is subject to road debris etc. There are several options on tachs. Depends on what you want.
