I think it would be cool if everyone would post a link to thier favorite junk yard / salvage yard search tools. Here's the dog, its ok but I'm sure there are better ones.
There are a couple other places, but they don't have web pages, or computers,
or staff that can speak. you tell them what you need and they will grunt yes or no and point to the right area of the yard.

Mine doesn't have a website, but its called 'Last Mile Auto Dismantlers'. I went there last week to get a steering column for my Ranger, paid 75 bucks for a complete tilt column with cruise on the wheel. I was lugging my tools out the back door, the Ranger I wanted was clear in the back of the yard and a guy hollers out from under a car, "See that red and white F150? Throw your tools in the back of that and drive it to the back of the yard." Now, how many yards will still let you pull your own parts, give you a discount for doing so, and loan you the yard truck (a Ford yet!) to haul your stuff? -TD
Unfortunately we don't have anything like that around here. A lot of wrecking yards in Ca. are a ripoff, so 75 bucks for a column is pretty cheap. They want $125.00 for a column for an F150, since it's a more desireable column. We only have 2 yards in the county, and the other one is generally higher. -TD
