Thanks Eric for all the links. I will go through them in the next couple of days. I had already e-mailed irwin.
Can the part be taken to a machine shop and threaded on a lathe?
Yes and no. I am wanting to thread the drag link for a 71' F250. (passenger side) Yes, if I straighten it out. No, because this won't get it "true" to get the correct depth on the lathe.
So, the right die just seems easier. A tie rod from a 4x4 of the same year is the correct diameter. I still need to investigate the taper of it compared to the taper of my connection on the spindle. That is the least of my problems. I just want to know the total expense of adapting any f250 drag link to an adjustable one. So far the cost is at $55.00 for the tie rod, $15.00 for the sleeve.
This problem derives from my I-beam flip quest. In that the tie rods now mount from the bottom. The drivers side can be flipped. The passenger side needs to be flipped.
After receiving the smaller kingpins from LMC. I had to order the correct oversized ones from NAPA. They should be in by Monday. Hopefully install this following weekend.
Thanks again for the list.

I think you can buy an adjustable drag link. Check with the suspension or offroad forums. Some of those links lead to companies that can make any size die, $$$$.

Autofab's drag link is $300.00.
I stayed up last night and e-mail each of those links. None had that particular die shown, but as you stated, I hope that they could make it.
As long as I can find this die, everything else should be realitively easy. The cost I believe shouldn't be more than $100 to do the whole project.
