I think it’s awesome how after 20 years the OP is still here to post on it, with the same truck that still runs and drives. Some posters come and go, some of us stay around. These forums are great in many different ways.
Yes but for the last 10, I've been waiting patiently for Tom to put just 4k more miles on it, so he'll be able to post 500k miles.
I think you're putting a new cab on it because she rotted out, right Tom?
I learned something from it just the same. I did not realize vacuum affected the shifting. My vacuum fluctuates and I don't know why but I blame it on my gauge and line running to it. However, I am now tracking how it shifts when the gauge reads low.....

yup the old girl rotted out with the bed, and about 6 inches of driver side floor falling off with the rocker panel.
so she is patiently sitting in a gazillion pieces in the big at home home shop waiting for me to put her back together.
the issues keeping that from happening was the knee replacement 10 years ago, then the shoulder blowout 8 years ago, and "icing on the cake" was the scamdemic 5 years ago. i cant find a driver i trust, so it is only me and the boss running three trucks and the crew.
so for now i am either working, or resting to get ready for the next day work.
i have a "new" 87 bed and cab waiting to go un her. came from a truck with only 34,000 miles on it that sat in a garage for 30 years after the owners son hit a tree and broke the front end took out front bumper, grill, hood, radiator and support. .........and never repaired it. father warned everyone it needed a brake line replaced and not try driving it. son forgot and wanted beer. got to first turn in driveway and oops, no brakes!!

vaccum only effect shifting on a C-6 trans. the E4OD trans is computer controlled.
I started the install of an aftermarket vacuum gauge in my Bullnose truck yesterday. I want to be able to monitor the health of the vacuum pump. I already replaced the vacuum pump more than once in 8 years owning the truck.
I actually think the last time that the vacuum pump died contributed to the death of the C6. I just had the C6 and VRV rebuilt so I should be good to go. 🤞
