I have a '94 F150 with an I-6. My clutch seems to be giving me a problem.
On a very cold day I was not able to get into gear and it felt very soft....then it warmed up and seemed to work fine.....then it did it again the next day but took longer to warm up and it would stop working if I did not use it for a long period of time....
I have no idea what the problem could be...I had the clutch plates changed 7 months ago and have only put 5000 miles on it....any ideas??
Chris,
Is it possible your clutch disc may be "retaining water," therefore, with the freezing weather, freezing to the clutch plate? That would explain why it works after the engine warms up and why the pedal would feel strange. The question is, how did your clutch disc get wet, and how do you dry it out?

Chris, I had the same problem with my 94. It turned out to be a bad pressure plate. It wasn't fully disengaging. When mine went bad i had a hard time getting it into 1st and reverse gear. I took it to a dealer and they replace the pressure plate. Also, have you checked your slave cyl fulid level, that too could be low. If it's low you won't get full clutch release. Good luck.
