I need HELP with getting a wiring schematic or connection information regarding Ford's stock switch for a power sliding rear window. I have a 2000 F150 Supercab XLT 4x4 5.4L V8. I have installed a power sliding rear window and would like to use the stock switch. This window was not available on the XLT and only an option for the Lariat. The problem is the stock switch has 6 contacts or pins on the rear labeled 1-2-3-4-5-6, with 4 pins across the top and 2 at the bottom. I don't know what's hot, what' ground, etc. I only have 4 wires to connect the window to a switch that came with the window. This switch does not look as good as the stock one. The stock switch location can be seen in the owner's manual diagram showing the instrument panel with the switch located below the headlight switch and beside the optional adjustable pedals switch. I already have the dash panel part with the dual openings below the headlight switch. The window is from CRL and is the same as the available Ford after market optional window, but for half the price.
The 4 wires I have to connect are as follows:
- Hot wire from the fuse panel
- Ground wire
- Switch lead to the motor for opening the window
- Switch lead to the motor for closing the window
Can anyone tell me what would be the correct combination of connecting the 4 wires to 6 pins? What is each pin on the switch for? I have the stock switch number if that is of any help. I can post that tomorrow if it's needed.
Thanks for your help!
Ok, here we go. I got this DVD with diagrams on it, and it has taken me awhile to figure out how to use it. I found the diagram you need. But we have run into this before. The diagram has no reference to the numbers on the switch. I think you have two choices. Take a meter and try to ohm out the switch using the diagram as a reference, or somehow buy wiring pigtail that goes to the switch and then you can use the wiring colors shown in the diagram.
You may also need to compare the way the aftermarket switch works to the factory switch, to see if they electrically are doing the same thing.
