Well everyone this issue of voiding a warranty is crazy. They cannot void a warranty. They may deny a claim because of something being done to the vehiche but they can`t void it. I feel the problem with the new 6.0 diesel is that it was a good design just not properly tested. Therefore all the problems FORD is having is causing them to loose money. So what do you do deny warranty claims on them because they know people will always add accessories. It will be a hard case for them to prove now that they are going to have a recall on 6.0 head gaskets. Everyone that has been having problems with them stay tuned and lets see what happens. Me included. MY truck is behind the shop waiting on lawyers to fight it out. I will prevail. My dad always told me It`s not over till the fat lady sings and she hasn`t even started.
Good luck all you 6.0 diesel blown head gasket owners
Yea this void warranty thing is getting crazy, I called the local Ford dealer parts dept. about getting a bug screen to go in front of the radiator just the screen material not the snap in type. The parts guy stated Ford does not make them and does not recommond them as they interfer with the air flow thru the radiator could overheat the motor and void the warranty. yea right!
Ford now offers an exhaust and intake performance inhancing kit(sold seperately), they are a little steep $810, for the cat back exhaust and $225 for the intake. I obtained this info from Chris at Board Fords Motor Sports department. I also found the exhaust on the Ford Motorsports web page but couldn't find anything about the intake. I think if Ford was going to try and void anyones warranty over these types of items they wouldn't sell them there selves?

Yes, Ford does sell these items. That doesn't mean that a portion of the warranty or a certain warranty claim can not be denied. But I'll have to agree with other posts. There are claims denied for invalid reasons. The door hinge for instance dependant upon a different mod to the rig. Ok. So I've ZooDad'd my truck. If my wonderful Donaldson air filter doesn't block the little Sparrow flying at Mach II down my wind pipe, I guess that I won't be able to make a claim when my intake/engine ingested something it shouldn't have.
That said, I've had some good dialog with my local service manager and have indicated my current mods, gauges and such. And my intentions. He's never once told me that these ideas were bad. That's when I told him I 'removed' the exhaust manifold to drill and tap it for the Thermocouple for the EGT gauge. Better to have done it that way than taking the chance that he think that I just drilled it, tapped it, without cleaning out metal shavings that could damage the turbo. (although they probably wouldn't) Changing exhaust, there's some gray area, but it's a safe bet it's OK. Adding tuners, well, then there's room to deny claim to electronics or drive train, but not for the electric seat malfunctioning. As for changing out the stereo, well, there's not much they can deny there. Installing one that draws too much current, unfused, for that circuit that ends up frying the dash electrical system, Well, that's just grounds for them to deny the claim. But they have to prove that what was installed, and how it was installed caused the fault. Dealerships that turn you away without cause should be noted publicly.

Denying a warranty is just Dealer Bunk.....I've been to dealers that have added on lift kits, exhaust systems, body accessories, stereo systems, remote starters, ect to new vehicles and naturally put a dealer markup on the vehicle. I seriously doubt that when a dealer puts on the same items that you can put on yourself they could deny your warranty, but yet do warranty work on a truck they customized. just my .02
That is what was interesting is the warning came from a dealer that does a lot of dealer upgrades. They will warranty their own mods but "May" not warranty owner mods.
I heard that Ford is now employing a team of mind reading psychic's, and even the thought of modifying your vehicle will result in a letter from Ford explaining that your entire warranty has been voided. And as a value added service they will also let you know if your spouse has been unfaithful.
This is not rumor. This is true. Furthermore, there is actually a mind reading chip in the 05's. I discovered and deactivated mine when wiring into an auxiliary switch. The 06's take this a step further and control you mind using a modified version of this same chip. By 07 end of game, although there is a rumor that the 07s may ship factory modified, so you don't have to trouble yourself.

When I was looking for my SD I test drove a used 04 F350 DRW with an Edge Attitude chip. The truck was being sold by the dealer with the chip. They seemed to think it added to the value of the truck. No mention of warrenty issues. Interesting!

I suppose we could safely assume that THAT dealership is mod friendly.
My truck is bone stock and will stay that way until either the warranty is up, or I trade the truck in for a new one some day. (yah right, like I could afford to do that again)
I have so far avoided temptation to make her into a rocket and even avoided the two balled bag hanging off of the trailor hitch. She does everything I need her to do. I have my 74 highboy for my rocket so that is where my money will go for mods. My 05 is for towing/camping, and nice comfortable transportation, with very respectable "stock" performance when I feel the need to floor it. Personally, I see no need to mod this nice truck! To each their own but my warranty will be good until the agreement is up.
