ok heres the problem. i have a 1990 bronco with a 302 5.0, e4od trans, when i start the truck up, it runs quiet. after the idle goes dow, or when i put it into gear, there is this annoying squeaking sound. i changed the idler pulley, and i thought it was gone, a couple of hours later, it was back. i cant figure it out.any helpful hints?
Get under her when its squeaking, and check the exhaust....including the air tube to the cat. You can use a piece of wood or gloves to protect from the heat and keep touching around till the squeak stops....or starts.
Still check the exhaust. I had a squeak a few weeks ago and I would have bet cash it was a pully.....it was the exhaust air inlet touching the tranny dip stick tube.
thanks, ill take a look at it.

I had a squeak also and it ended up being the long attachment for the jack that was attached to my grillmount and wiper/antifreeze overfiller. put rubber between them and no squeak.
since i put the 44's on, i threw that stuff away, its use;ess now. its something with the motor, it squeals, and its soo annoying, i cant figure it out.
The usual source of squeling in the Bronco is the serpentine belt, even though it may sound like a bad bearing. Usually, it depends on the humidity and it goes away in dry air, and returns in humid air. Try replacing the serpentine belt, or lubricate it with silicone oil. Another possibility is an accessory whose pulley doesn't line up properly.
If you want to make sure that it is your serpentine belt just take the belt off and start the truck for a few seconds and put it in gear to see if the noise is still there. If the noise is not there you pretty much know that it is the belt or one of the accessories.
