I just returned from Wally World with a deal I couldnt pass up. 3 cases of Trop Artic at $13 a case. Would this oil be okay to run in my 97 4.6 liter with 180000 miles that has lived its life on dino valvoline and castrol? Has anyone used or heard anything good/bad on this oil? Thanks for any input. At $13 a case, this is cheaper than the dino I am currently using.
wow trop artic 13.00 ask flash it is a group 3 oil very good stuff check out bitog the oil is great napa sells it for 2.89 a quart the oil is awesome stuff.use it in the 4.6 it is almost considered a synthetic oil.
I read that and it was part of the reason that I decided to purchase it. I do frequent bitog and have read wonderful stuff about it there. I was just wondering if I would have to do shorter ocis being that it is syn. blend like I would if it were synthetic and if it would be okay to run in an engine with that many miles on dino. I put some in today and took the truck for an 85 mile round trip to work and it seemed to run smoother especially at idle. Could I expect some cleaning action? The folks at bitog said I didnt have to do any thing special such as shorter ocis. What do you guys think? I also emailed conoco phillips and they said it would be okay to just dump in and drive.

Just came back from dollar tree bought out all the remaining 10w30 about 20 quarts. But has anyone noticed this oil really smells but besides that when you rub it between your fingers how slippery it is i thought it was very cool compared it to some other 10w30 oil i had and this oil really flows a lot better when cold , I had it in the freezer for a hour at -5 degrees and it still poured great the Valvoline 10w30 did not do very well it poured like syrup.

I visted my local Dollar Tree because of such posts I have seen here.
Didn't find one quart the TropArtic oil.

Brian, did your store stock any type of oil? The Dollar Tree, near me, carried Citgo's Superguard Oil & ATF, before switching to the Trop Artic Oil, in the early spring, here in NoCal. I've seen the Trop Artic now at Wal-Mart also. $13 for a case, is still a great deal. At least one knows what quality of oil you are purchasing.
i was able to get them to place it on the order for the following week they now can't keep it in stock they have dedicated a 1/4 isle to the oil the 10w30 takes up almost all the room but they also have 10w40 a 30w my friend spent a whole afternoon going to dollar tree stores and came by my house with 319 quarts i couldn't believe it he is a little overkill the same thing happened when walamrt stopped selling MC filters he bought 150.00 worth

I have to ask, smells like what? Is it like the Tide detergent perfume of Castrol Syntec, or maybe the heady Bombay gin aroma of Chevron Delo?
