Hey Just, if you empty it out totally it takes 32 quarts U.S. with the heavy duty radiator. They pretty much all had the heavy duty.

ok - thanks! Is it OK to do a chemical flush on these motors??

Also, I bought the Napa Kool deisel additive but wasn't sure if it was the right stuff so I went to Ford and picked up their diesel additive. Is the Napa Kool Ok to use in a 1990 7.3?? Are they both compatible (if I use the ford stuff this time can I add the napa stuff when it needs more)??

Thanks,

Hey Just, THE NAPA stuff is good. Same thing. I've used the ford and CAT additives with no problems. Just test at every oil change to make sure you have the right amount in there. NAPA also sells the test strips for that.

P.S I've never done a chemical flush on mine, don't know if you can. I don't see any problem with it. I change out my anti-freeze yearly and flush the motor through the heater return hose 'till it runs clear.
