Pretty sure it's a well known fact that "attitude" does not come across well over the internet. What may seem 100% confrontational is actually someone trying to be helpful.............the "tone" seems mean spirited when in fact that's the farthest from what was meant.
Even one's humor gets mistaken for being condenscending.
I will be the first to admit correcting what I know to be wrong info......Herein lies the quandry: if you KNOW someone is living in the twilight zone about ANYTHING............a past vehicle's performance, what he's beat, economy etc.. Or you KNOW that a competitor has a better product at the moment (GOD how we all hate thinking we made the wrong purchase!!) What do YOU do??? Let people live their fantasy? Or do you correct them?
I don't want Ford supporters to be like ricer's or certain punks that spout chevy nonsense (not all GM supporters do this) EVERYTHING that is Ford is not all ending..........we have our good and our bad. I want to be the intelligent ones, I don't want people saying old 6.9 diesels were quicker than SS 454's, that someone bought a BOSS 429 for $200, That they have 150 MPH full size 302 Broncos(very old thread), 130 MPH Econoline vans, 4.9 sixes that'll outpull ANYTHING, that "basically" a 4.6 is two old pinto engines
etc..
Some people when corrected will admit their mistake ( I THOUGHT the 310 HP wasn't until 2001 because the vans still had 275HP in 2000, I ADMITTED I was wrong and thanked the correction) other people FREAK and will make huge fools trying to save face.
What do you guys think? Let the dreamers dream or try to be above other boards with CORRECT and USEFUL info?

Tell me about it.
So many times I have had users think I was being sarcastic or condescending when all I was doing was answering point blank question with short & sweet answers
It just shows human frailty & how some people jump to contusions without a second thought
If I'm wrong, I want to know it and learn from it. I hope that I am ready to admit my error, as I did with a NASCAR thread I was involved in a while back. It's a little easier to eat the crow if the correction has a link to pertinent info.
I don't mind being wrong. I eagerly accept correction. What I don't like is being corrected and then blatantly flamed for all to see. I'm sure I've been guilty of this as well, so for the most part I try to collect my thoughts for a minute before I post something that could be misconstrued by someone else.
Sometimes, a "don't take this the wrong way but..." helps.
I have been wrong before (as I recall it was April, 1973), and I have no problem with being corrected in the unlikely event it should ever happen again.

I belong to what used to be one of the most popular baseball enthusiasts forums on the internet. I was an avid User with over 2000 posts. I have not visited there in over eight months, primarily for the very reasons we are speaking of here. The site was well moderated, however many of the members (mostly coaches) had such big ego’s, many of the threads became nothing more than a testosterone measuring contest.
After three years, no thank you.
Discussion forums can be a lot about opinions, and opinions can be a lot like stripes on a Zebra. When I believe I am correct about an issue, I’ll make my point and leave it at that. In the opposite vein, I have no problem with being corrected, in fact I welcome it.
When it gets right down to it, who the heck am I? I’m nobody. I’m just another User name on that screen in front of you......
100% right on concerning opinions...........or feelings.
I'm starting to see what my problem is on this subject:
Ever been to a car show or a parts store or, heck, anywhere for that matter and a stranger will see your (fill in the blank) and comment how their friend has sumpin' bigger, faster, stronger or whatever?
Having a kid at Cycle gear tell me his GSX750 will do 220 MPH just by changing sprockets when my ZX12R "only" does around 190.
An idiot checking out our Lightning whose friend has one with a BIGGER(sic) top pulley putting down 800HP on a stock short block.......etc.
The guy who claims an '83 6.9 diesel ran mid 14's in the day.
I just don't want the Ford lovers acting this way...........it brings down the whole breed.
As far as baseball.................we all know the Dodgers are da' bomb!!!
