If you want to find out how smart someone is just let them keep talking, a wise man will only speak if he knows the answer. I have always thought that this was a very true statement and it has kept me out of many a pickle.

Some of the smartest talkers were listeners.

But what if I am never wrong?
I speak nothing but the truth. I know ALL, and anyone that dares to confront me has to be WRONG.
Even if by rare chance that I happen to be slightly incorrect I must defend myself by rambling on with pointless drivel, until the other person leaves due to shear frustration.

Guys, Guys... Where did you all go

Jeez, I keep waiting for Confucious to post between you and Ben.

I'm not sure I follow the above ancient proverb. Plenty of people keep speaking well after the answer has alluded them.

I think I'm gonna sell that one to a fortune cookie maker...or Hallmark!!

I don't mind being corrected as long as I know why. I don't agree with everything that is said or done, but if I don't have the proof. It is best to keep my mouth shut until I have proof of something. If you read something that I have wrong, please correct me. That way, I can learn.

I hope you realize that Confucius can't post because he died almost 2500 years ago. LOL

What was that old saying... seems to fit here, as well.

"It's sometimes better to remain silent and be THOUGHT a fool, than to open ones mouth and remove any doubt."

Some folks post misinformation, brags, non-facts, just to pull your chain and get a whole lot of feedback...whether it be negative or positive, doesn't matter. I am probably just as impulsive as the rest, when I see something that DIRELY needs a response...but I'm slowly kicking back and letting it slide...and thinking about the above quotation as I trot off into the sunset...or next post.

everyone has different reasons for being on the interweb. Some come here to learn and teach others, some come here for entertainment, and I come here because I have a ford truck and have to kill 8 hours a day at work and picking fights on the internet passes the time faster than agreeing with everyone all the time. I take nothing on the internet serious and think everyone is the same as me.

As a friend of mine puts it, "The more I am corrected, the more correct I will be."

I must say I do get a little tired of the "Ford-only, everything else is junk" rhetoric. Don't get me wrong, I've got two Ford trucks, and they have served me well, but I'm not going to worship a name, just so some CEOs can laugh all the way to the bank. Basically, I found this site because I needed some help/info on FIXING a Ford, not because it was the "best".

"You can lead a horse to water - but you can't stop it from overtorqueing head bolts"

Someone once told me that for any advice to be helpful, personalities need to be left out of it. Ditto solutions, et cetera...

The internet means different things to a lot of people, and also means different things to them at different times I think. Entertainment, help and advice, an ego boost, a sense of belonging or being a 'A Part Of' something...

You don't see cyber sex anymore on most webhosts, unless they are dedicated dirty sites. I remember when I could not go to a message forum online without seeing that stuff plastered all over the place. The web is also a convenient escape from reality to a great many people...

The "expectations" of a visitor to any website are a thing that needs to be set by the webmaster and associated moderators at any given website, and I think this has been set out very thoroughly by Ken Payne and Company here - we always know what to expect and how to comport ourselves when posting at FTE, what is acceptable and what is not, and there is a near absolute certainty that if we represent something as true that is absolutely out to lunch - about five million of the other people who post here will recognise it immediately!

So, for the most part I think 'fact distortion' is at a minimum here. Where there is something that doesn't quite add up or that can be done better, what I have seen overall is advice as opposed to rep-trashing. That is another one of the nice things about FTE, we all come here to learn. It makes us better.

Have a good day!
