It takes 1 1/4" hose. Is that what you're wondering?

mtflat, The reasion I asked is. when I got this eng It was already taken apart and the guy had the parts mixed in with another V-8 eng out of a 47 pickup witch is different. I have never worked with flatheads before. The pipe I have there is a bigger diameter than the hose outlet on the heads. Thats why I was wondering about size.

Ok, I remember about the difference in pipe sizes. I have a 46 radiator here and the upper pipes are 1 3/4". When Ford switched to the 8BA in '48 they made the upper pipes smaller for some reason. I ran the 46 rad in my 48 for a spell when the '48 radiator was in the shop being recored.

If you have only the '46 radiator, here's a trick I got from the flathead gurus on the msn group. Try using short pieces of 1 1/4" hose as a sleeve inside the 1 3/4" at the top of the metal pipe just before the radiator. It's hard to explain, but makes sense when you look at it.
