this kit from summit also looks good to me CRN-34772-16. The way it looks is that you can convert you non adj rockers to adj rockers could someone look at this and give some info on it
Those are the ductile iron rockers. I use the same ones. They have an odd ratio. The std adjustable FE rockers are 1:76 and the cranes are like a 1:52 so you will lose a little lift. I've also heard other guys needing a longer pushrod for Edelbrock heads, Crane iron rockers and hyd cams. 1/4" longer to be exact. I use a 9.250" pushrod and run a solid cam and lifters. So just double check everything before you order. The Crane rockers are nice but heavy. I'd say double the weight of the OEM's. I run the good steel rocker shafts with lowriser cast iron slotted stands and spacers also. I like the locknut on the adjusters. I think these are up to $210 for the set now. Your almost in roller rocker money there. Personally I think the std adjustables are fine and you keep the stock ratio. JMO, G.
G..I have too disagree with you there !! Crane Rocker's ,all tho might not be the best on the Market...But a good one depending on your build..Have the closest Ratio of most of the rocker's...
If you get into some in depth Research,,you will find that a Cam company that knows there S**t and doesnt try to push there part will show a rocker Difference...and a Push rod Difference..Depending on who you buy the the rocker's from and the push rods... They claim a certin Lift with there Rocker arm and there Pushrod..to get you to buy there Part!!
The main thing is Piston to Valve Clearance..and if it works for your combo!!
Just my thought's...Too many beer's...lol...Happy Holidays!!
Dennis at DSC is a good guy. He really knows the Ford FE (and others as well). I bought mine from him. I have the shell solid lifters so I got the $80 set. His website lists the critical dimensions.
He's probably not as fast with a reply or order as Summit, but he really knows the FE and that may be worth waiting for. His prices are pretty reasonable.
well back on this DSC guy is his stuff new or used????? I am looking around for adjustable valve train to go in my motor and found this kit for $200 and was wondering could i use my rocker arm shaft that i already have. Just take my old non adjustable rockers off and slide on the new adjustable rockers?

has anyone tried that with this kit?
New or used from DSC -- Some stuff is new. Some stuff is used. He has a code -- A, B, C, and so on -- to tell you what it is.
If you get his iron adjustable rockers, go for the Crane adjuster screws from Summit. I tried to get by cheap and when the .003 OS screws didn't quite tighten things up. I pinched the rockers in a vise to tighten the threads. BAD MOVE. Didn't work and also lead to the failure of one of my rockers. Since I did that to all of my rockers I can't trust them. I'm currently putting in a set of Dove roller tip rockers. I should probably go whole hog and get the set with spacers and end stands from Dennis, but I'm cheap.
I heard that some folks really liked the Erson set-up.
Summit is great, too. Most of my stuff I got from them. Their deliveries were blazingly fast.
Good luck with your project. I wish I had more time to spend researching, but I'm just trying to get my truck running again.

Russ the Cranes are a good rocker and use them myself. No issues on my end and never said they were bad. I've only heard about others having pushrod issues with hyd lifters and Edelbrock heads. I'm no expert there. I only use solids. Something to look into though.
Bshackel, I don't see ANY ratio listed on the Crane site. Not sure about the Summit site but I would have a look on the Crane as these are their product. If you find out othrewise let me know. They are a good rocker and I've had them on three engines so far. Maybe call Crane and pick their brains a bit.
I am wondering G did you use a stock rocker shaft?
I will give Crane a call in the morning. I wanted to give them a call today but i have been at the hospital for most of the day. So when the sun comes up the i will call.
B, It depends on the valve spring open spring pressure. Anything close to 300 lbs open you might want to use the HD shafts that are good to 400 lbs open. This is with stock aluminum stands. You can also slot the aluminum stands for a little better clamping pressure like the old HD iron stands. So double check your open spring pressure. On a side note you mentioned you were at the hospital most of the day. Hope everything is ok. G.

Hey G... I 'am not saying crane rocker's are (bad) All I was saying for some engine's there Not as advertised for there rocker ratio is all.. I have crane Golds for my stroker build....cause the about the only rockers that really work good for clearence for the Kaase SCJ heads..And Kaase recommended using them...But alot of people have run accross Bad Valve train Geometry because of improper rocker arm ratio not being what they were advertised...
I need to get new springs being that i am rebuilding this 390 and putting 941 cam in it new lifters and all of that.
What springs should i get? (i kind of prfer Crane to go along with that crane cam and maybe the Crane rockers)
G thanks for asking. Everything is good my young cousin (might as well be my younger brother had to have emergency surgery last night so that was where i was at most of the day - night
