Hello everyone,
This will be my first post on this site but not my first viewing. I have been
here often (Lurking) for information.
But now I have an issue that I am sure someone has delt with....
I have a '95 F250 with a 5.8 Litre. Lately I have been getting a 'Tapping' sound when I accelerate or put any pressure on the gas pedal. I replaced the fuel regulator at the back center of the engine (this is the area I am hearing the sound), but it had no effect. The strange thing is the sound appears to 'move' down when the accelerator is pressed making it hard for me to pin it down.
I did the 'Broomstick' test & do not hear any valve issues, nor exhaust leaks.
The Haynes manual says Emiissions or Fuel system, Any ideas?
I bought the truck2 years ago with 151K miles (now 166K). No modifications
& just passed DEQ in Oregon.
I had a similiar problem with my 89 E-250, 5.0. Thought it was the diverter valve in the air pump system, but turned out to be a broken EGR tube. The break was hidden by the insulation wrap. Replacement tube came from Murray's "Help" parts. If I remember correctly it was $60 - $70.
