Hey guys... My 97' F350 with the 460 and 5pd has only two leaf springs on the front suspension. Is this the factory amount? Looking at the clips that keep the springs straight, it looks like there is room for another one maybe two leafs? I'm not sure if this truck has the plow package or not. How many do you guys have and do you have the snow plow package or diesel? Do they have more for weight?
thanks for the quick info i1 dery... do you know if you have the plow package on your truck? Does anyone know from the vin or axle tags can you tell if you have the snow plow package or tow packages?
EDIT- Also could i find a 3rd leaf from a diesel and add it to my spring pack to level my truck a bit?
Myself im getting a lift and it comes with 5 or 7 pack for springs
and curved backwards to lift it up,and of course they make um
for the diesels. No i dont think it has the tow stuff but being a
lariat it has some good options im sure like i think a 1ton axle
and heavy dutier rated leafs in front. wait this is about you what
exactly are you trying to do? lift it, see if you can run a plow?
or just beef up the springs?
More just curiosity than anything... I would consider adding a leaf to level the truck a bit but i don't want to lift it. I figure the warn bumper and 12,000lb winch have added like 300lbs to the front end, so I'm prob. close to the weight of the diesel up front. I don't plan on running a plow either... mostly wondering if the previous owner removed a leaf to ride smoother.
Right,TTB (twin traction beam) has 2 seperate "axles" that mount to pivot brackets. With the straight axle, there may have been an optional 3-pack but I can't say for sure.
I have often wondered about this. I wrench on several F250 to F350 4X4 trucks, the only one with a 5.8L, F250 has 3 springs. The 95 F250, 90 F350, 96 F350, and 95 F350 ALL have 2 springs and a 460...it has never made sense to me!!
F 350 has 2 unless it is diesel, they have 3. I have 94 f-350 with a plow and plow pack and it has 2. But will have a 3rd added before plowing this winter.
Interesting that the one with the 5.8 is the only one with the 3 springs.... do they look thiner than the two on the other trucks? I wonder what the determining factor is at the factory to get the three spring pack? It doesn't seem to be gas or diesel, or the plow package. I wonder if it's has anything to do with trim level? Maybe higher trim levels get two springs for a nicer ride? Just a WAG... I would like to figure out what trucks have 3 just so I can find a donor truck to take the third spring from.
Mine is rated 4600 lbs and only has the two... on the door sticker it says TF spring code. Anyone know what spring codes and corresponding ratings have three springs?
Thanks,
Nate
