I heard that the 8.1L is going to 380 h.p. and 485 ft.lbs. in 2007.
On edmunds they mention Chevy will have two new power option's for there HD trucks for 07, a 8.2 liter big block and a new 6.9 Duramax thats gonna make more Torque and Horsepower. So it will be interesting!
I highly doubt they will sell, fuel isn't going to get any cheaper, and with stricter emissions / low sulphur diesel fuel taking effect in 2007, the duramax may have a very short life. This is a bad move on GMs part.
Okay, we have all given opinions. Hopefully someone can come up with some fresh info. Thnx to the guy with the 8.2/380 h.p. info. 8.2 makes more sense after he mentioned it is possibly a 502 which GM currently offers for marine use. They also build a 572. Wouldn't THAT be nice?!?!?!! My loyalties are more to my country than to Ford and if GM comes up with a good h.p. pkg., I will want one and use the rebate from my GM Card. Hopefully many other people will too. Then Ford will up the ante in this new h.p. war and I will get another Ford with employee discount from my bro-in-law. WOT uh KONNTREEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it's a typo. The reason G.M. did the 8.1L (496) instead of the 502 (which was in production at the time) was because they didn't want to use a siamese block on a truck engine.
