i am running this programmer on my 2001PSD. recently i noticed some loud injector noises and white smoke coming out the tailpipe. i removed the programmer and the truck runs normal.
has anyone out there herd of this? i dont really like this programmer because ever since i installed it i have had problems, but there are so many different chips and programmers out there that i am confused on which to buy next. any advise will help. thanks.
We have sold tons of the Evo's with great customer feed back, I would suggest you contact Edge at 888-360-3343 and see if they can help you. Maybe your tuner is bad etc. If that fails I would get the Superchip, we sell them as well and never have any issues with them. Call us if you have any questions etc.
Sean, I have an evolution as well but I haven't experienced anything wrong with it. I'd give them a call and see what they can do for you. If you aren't satisfied, I'd probably go with the predator. Seem to have more user adjustable parameters than the others, plus lower egts than most. That is what I would have gotten but they don't make one for the pre-99 trucks.
Edge told me to send it back so they can update it, but i am leaning towards selling it and investing a diablo. what is the difference between the diablo sport and the diablo flip chip? also in the future i plan for turbo upgrades and bigger injectors. which tuner would suit my needs best? thanks for all your time and help guys.

If your plans include bigger turbo and injectors then you need to wait on buying a different chip or programmer at this time. Reason being that you can get a custom burned chip for your particular application that gives you the best performance/lowest EGT possible. If you get a chip now, it will be burned for what you have now. And then later on your nice big turbo and injectors are going to be hobbled by the chip that was programmed for stock components.
I suggest getting the Edge updated for now and keep saving up for what you want.
I second Kwikkordead's suggestion about updating the Edge. After you get it back and installed and it's working properly, you may not consider other mods except for exhaust. Too many people spend too much money for minor gains in performance. Remember, too many mods equals too many problems.
