I think I'll regress just a bit. I do like DSC's solid spacer adjustable rocker arm setup and it's sure nice to have it come completely assembled and ready to bolt on. I don't know anywhere else to get this except DSC...other than going the roller rocker route at roughly twice the cost. I never checked with Napa though...wish I had done that....lol.

'Stang.......I checked at a couple of part stores around here and they were alot higher. I ordered the ones with springs instead of spacers from DSC, and they look new. Was that grease they were covered with? It felt kinda sticky for grease.
Xford, you've got more money or guts than me, back in the early 70's I ran springs instead of spacers. Two bent valves, ok I can live with it a cheap repair then sucked a valve and destroyed a 428 motor. Rockers walked over, banged the retainer until the keepers came out. But I saved some time in machining solid spacers at the cost of a head, piston and block. Feel lucky?

A few things... first I agree the spacers are the better of the two. You can also double the springs which I have done in the past. Not end to end... interlock them together. But at something like $8 ea for the springs the spacers are better and cheaper. I've also seen where some guys use PVC to make spacers. This was race only and I'd be real leary about this myself. In most cases the springs will be fine in a stockish build. G.

I thought the 'spacers' was a race only thing. There's been quite a bit of adj. rocker talk on here lately and I completely missed the part about this problem. I assumed the spring setup was standard on all standard and HP motors.
105# seated pressure, stainless valves on 6090G LR heads, juice cam, standard lifters, roller rockers side stepped below 5,000 revs. Running springs vs spacers now that's a tough question, solid valve train vs blown up motor?
I can't decide on a $5,000 investment?

Point taken....Sorry I didn't mean it to sound like you were wrong. All your advice has been correct, and I thank you for that. It's just that you blew me away with that one. I thought I had this thing nailed down pretty good. Should I send these back or can I fix this myself ? I have the springs off the old rockers, could I use them to double spring? Or maybe make the spacers myself?
Well the DSC rocker assys with the spacers are only $20 more. Maybe you can return them and upgrade to the rockers with the spacers. If they are unused I can't see it being a problem other than shipping yours back for credit. I used double springs before I learned about the spacers which worked well. The spacers are far more effective and as Carl wisely stated can save you thousands if things go bad. JMO, G.
I may sound hard but I wanted to make a point, don't leave anything to "guess it might work". As a aviation mechanic I must be more critical on mechanical things. DSC, Dove or FPP have spacers, I machined my own. You need a positive stop not doubling up on springs.

EDIT: Above I stated the rocker springs were $8 ea. This is WRONG they are $8 for a set of six. Just wanted to clear that. Sorry. Please move along.....G.
xford....sorry for the late reply...I've been busy the last few days and haven't been on the computer at all. The rocker assemblies I got from DSC were covered with some kind of protective lube....I don't know exactly what.
I never checked with Napa on the rocker cost so I don't know...I just read earlier in the thread that they were cheaper than DSC. As for me, I am happy with what I got from DSC, I just wish they would've shipped sooner and not billed my card before they shipped.
