Tufoil

What a Monday! On one of my stops today (route driver) I was talking to a friend, as we always talk about trucks, detailing, maintenence etc. Today, he was telling me, that the lubricant, Tufoil, MUST be added with every oil change. (go to www.tufoil.com if you are lot familier with the product). I was telling him, that a quality oil, does not need any types of additives. In fact, some additives, do more harm than good. Did not want to hear it, and said I needed to research Tufoil some more. There is no bad publicity on this product. Well, I was read the riot act (in a friendly, trying to educate me manner) and said if I used some Tufoil, I would see the error in my thinking. He is expecting an apology from me, the next time I'm delivering there. Anyway, comments? Tufoil? What do you think? Pep Boys now stocks it, as it used to be available mostly through direct mail order. Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, and similar magazines, carried Tufoil ads, going back the the mid 1980s, I beleive. Ed

It looks like VI improver and Moly in a synthetic blend carrier oil. This one worries me a little, Polytetrafluoroethylene. A Teflon-like flourinated hydocarbon polymer?

Okay kids, repeat after me "This is a Slick 50 wannabe". As jimandmandy described it, the PolyTetraFluoroEthylene is better known as PTFE which has a common name - TEFLON. This is more snake oil and it wouldn't surprize me if the great uncle in the sky doesn't slam 'em if they start a bunch of false claims and advertizing. As long as they remain an obscure company, they will be safe plying their goods. It isn't worth the effort to put in the engine if it were free.

LOL, I had a sneaking suspicion that this oil was a Slick 50 wanna be, but since I'm not well versed in those big chemistry words, this dumb ole Industrial Engineer just kept his trap shut!

With 1-5 % composition, that's barely enough to register. Wasn't Slick 50 in the neighbor hood of 20%?
