Arrow Nicks, Chips, and Scrapes...

It seems as if everytime I was my truck, I notice a new chip or scrape in the truck, from people hitting her with doors, etc. I have one scape that was caused by stone, which I did. It's about 4" long right infront of the left tail light, on the box. Its not deep but polishing compound and wax fixed it until I got it washed and it all came off. Anyway, I am posting this because I wanted to know some of you guys' tips and tricks for removing "imperfections" in paint/clearcoat. I don't like touchup paint because you can always tell something was there, and it just isn't the same. I will rarely use it in small places applied with a toothpick.

Thanks,
Dan

I know what you mean.. It seems like the paint chips really, really easy. I had my truck for 3 days when I took it to a do-it-yourself car wash. Well, the foam brush scratched my paint bad and I took it to a detail shop and they were able to get most of the scratches buffed out. They are very small now, but the shop did do a great job.

If you live in San Diego, then I can suggest a shop, but I don't know what else to suggest. It just seems like the paint chips so easy. And I don't think they did the best paint job on my truck to begin with.

Rubbing compound and touch up paint for me. I touch up any chip that's through the basecoat with touchup paint. Don't want rust to start. Not sure if there's an alternate fix other than a body shop. You could sand and spray then clear your repair. Most people aren't comfortable doing that.

Mud flaps go a long way towards preventing rock chips behind the tires.
