Hood & body herculiner?
The previous owner of my truck had a plastic bug/rock protector on the front lip of the hood. Somewhere along the line the thing started scraping off the paint on the hood. I took it off last week and have 3 spots about 2" across that are bare metal. I was going to take it to maaco but then thought about just painting a 4 or 5 " strip of herculiner along the front edge of the hood to cover the bare metal. Also prevent rock chips etc. Anyone try this? How did it come out?

There's a huge project thread in the big bronco section where the entire truck was done with bedliner. It was VERY well done. You might want to head down there and see if you can find it.
I know a few people have used bedliner to do the fenders and all the way across the bottom of the cab and bedside. I really wouldn't mind doing that to hide my rust, but I'd just end up sealing it in and making it worse.

i had a 1986 jeep wagoneer that i did with herculiner. you can buy the roll on kits and it worked great. did the entire outside except the chrome. looked awesome! best part is that you dent it and pop the fender back out you cant even tell. i have pictures i will post if i can find them. the only bad thing is that its hard to clean. i only used half a gal for the entire jeep. so a quart is all you really need.
