OKAY GUYS, HERE'S ONE FOR YOU TO SOLVE SINCE THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING WRONG WITH MY EXCURSION. I WAS DRIVING AT 70 MPH AND MY TRUCK STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO START BACK UP AND COST OFF THE FREEWAY, IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. ALL THE WHILE I AM TRYING TO GET IT TO START IT IS BLOWING SO MUCH WHITE SMOKE, IT LOOKS LIKE I AM ON FIRE TOW TRUCK COMES, TO THE DEALERSHIP WE GO, AND ACCORDING TO THEM IT STARTED RIGHT UP THIS MORNING AND HAS BEEN RUNNING JUST FINE ALL DAY I AM A MOM WHO HAULS A BUNCH OF HOCKEY KIDS ALL OVER SOUTHERN CAL. THIS IS NOT GOING TO WORK FOR ME. SO HELP ME OUT OR I AM GETTING A NEW EXCURSION AND IT JUST MIGHT HAVE TO BE GAS
sounds like the cps is going out. that's the camshaft position sensor. is the trk under warranty ? if so, it will cost the deductable $. if not, you can buy the sensor at the international dealer ( not ford ), 100.00 and put it in yourself or have a friend do it. i hate to inform you that a gas powered vehicle can fail just as quick as your diesel did. everything is electronic and can fail without much if any warning on all newer vehicles.
For gods sake do not abandon the diesel and go gas. It sounds like the cam position sensor. Make the dealer do a road test while monitoring the cmp. If they cannot go to another who can.
