Does anybody know a good manufacturer or source for a high output alternator? I would like some extra juice for my '88 F250 when I'm using my camper and some auxiliary lights, up here in the northwest I have to drive with lights and the fan going much of the time. How much amperage is available and what would you recommend? I'd like to be able to recharge my camper battery within a couple hours of driving.
Paul,
You can try almost any auto electric shop and they will have factory style units rewound for mor more output. I believe they can go up to about 100 amps. There are some very good aftermarket companies, but the price for a high quality 160 - 200 amp alternators is expensive. You can try
